Christo du Plessis

Biography

I completed my Masters degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Pretoria in 2009 under the supervision of prof. JC Olivier (now UTass). I completed my PhD in Computer Science at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2014 under the supervision of prof. Masashi Sugiyama (now UTokyo).

Research interests

I am interested in the development of machine learning algorithms where the dataset changes (i.e., dataset shift) and where weak supervision occurs. Specific interests are:

• Dataset shift when the prior probabilities change (i.e., class-prior change and target shift)
• Learning from positive and unlabeled samples
